Our Review:

Yay micro is a recent addition to the microstock world, launched at the start of jan 08. They added 500,000 images in their first year - quite an achievement.

All site prices are in Euros (approx currency conversion for our stats below) and a subscription service is offered. Interestingly there is a different price structure for 'creative' (typical microstock use) and editorial use. Editorial use at a larger ticket price (double subscription cost and 3x pay-as-you-go credit price.)

Image subject quality is professional, unlike snapvillage for example images on yaymicro seem to have a strict quality policy on image style. they currently count 360,000 images according to their recent newsletter

High resolution images command a nice 10 euro price tag (30 euro for editorial) while low res images are available for one euro.

Preliminary Conclusion

Only a couple of sales on about 300 images this year.

Currently not enough info for me to recommend this site. Attractive price structure for contributors, low sales for me but lots of 'Buzz'. Higher prices may attract photographers but it will not attract buyers unless something special is on offer.

Just saw this new site, nice and clean - but really who is there market ? The images are not amazing and they cost more the others sites. I think they will have a tough run getting big volume. I'm always looking for new places to buy different images at a good price, that was how i found it. It really does not grab me. sorry. From a big volume stock buyers first experience it was not great. Seems more aimed at the seller to me ? Hopefully you sellers get some sales! Best of luck, CM

I'm not sure either, hence my review recommendation not so spend time uploading. Prices are increasing gradually across the microstock market (but not to the level of yaymicro). I expect to see more niche microstock sites appearing - these will be able to charge a more premium microstock prices ($10-20 dollars) perhaps starting with wide subjects like food or travel, then later focusing on things like disability, specific geographic locations or passtimes etc. Currency I have no sales at yay micro, and no stats on how many views.
