21 Nov 08: Keenimages announces it will close. They will migrate your account (optional) to their parent (paid) site Shutterpoint, for a free period of 6 months (paid thereafter). "Any outstanding money earned on keenimages will be paid shortly"
You can read the last review I had on keenimages below, clearly the news did not come as a surprise...
Previous Rating of 2/10 and been changed to -1/10 to reflect site closure.
24 Nov 08: Keenimages 'Discontinued' and accounts migrated about 2 weeks later.
With just over 40,000 images and little traffic, this is not a 'player'.
Basic image price starts at $11 (rising to $79 for high resolutions) so it's little more expensive than the leading microstock sites, but that should not put you off - your photography is worth it!
The issue is does this pricing put buyers off?
prices as of Jul 08:
$11 | Web Resolution | under 1MB | under 0.33 megapixels |
$19 | Low Resolution | 1MB-8MB | 0.33-2.7 |
$35 | Medium Resolution | 8MB-20MB | 2.7-6.6 |
$59 | High Resolution | 20MB-33MB | 6.6-11 |
$79 | Super High Resolution | 33MB and above | 11 and above |
Like imagevortex (review) this site straddles the line between microstock and macrostock. General consensus in the microstock community is, as for imagevortex, not too favourable when it comes to earnings.
Keenimages is a sister site to shutterpoint (pay to upload and sell site - review)
Conclusion
I'm still waiting for my first images to be reviewed, I've been waiting for more than 2 months. keenimages appears to be a waste of time.
